Since its founding in the 1970’s, Waldoboro Food Pantry has continued to evolve to meet the needs of food insecure residents in Waldoboro, Bremen and Nobleboro. Post-pandemic, we provide drive-thru distribution every 1st and 3rd Tuesday. We also provide delivery to clients residing at Sproul Block, Waldoboro Village, and Coles Hill. Our distributions include non-perishables like canned goods, pasta, cereal, dried fruit and nuts, fresh foods like milk, bread, eggs and produce, as well as frozen meats. Income limits apply.

During the pandemic, many restaurants and food retailers donated prepared meals regularly for our semimonthly food distribution. This became a staple for many of our seniors. As pandemic-related subsidies ceased, so did our meals. We looked for ways to raise funds to purchase prepared meals and found it through the Bessie D. Brooks Foundation. With the help of a generous grant from the foundation and our local Hannaford, we are able to provide prepared meals for seniors living alone at each distribution.

Formerly known as the “Weekend Backpack Program” and provided by AIO Food Pantry in Rockland, the Miller Kids’ Weekend Meals program was born out of necessity. As a Knox County resource, AIO was no longer able to fund weekend meals for Lincoln County schools. Healthy Lincoln County’s Jess Breithaupt stepped in and orchestrated a plan for AIO to continue procuring and packaging the weekend meals and for WFP to fund and deliver the meals to Miller school every Thursday.
